Acompáñenos a estar en comunidad y aprender con yerberas, parteras, y otras personas con conocimiento ancestral. Los talleres se enfocarán en como recuperar conocimientos ancestrales de como las hierbas, plantas, nuestros ancestros, y nuestra comunidad pueden ayudarnos a sanar físicamente y emocionalmente. Este evento es para tode aquelles interesades en conectarse más con el curanderismo, sea usted principiante o con décadas de conocimiento.
Este evento gratis sera completamente en español, y comida será proveída. Será un evento familiar y habrá actividades para les niñes. En Santa Rosa Junior College, campus de Santa Rosa.

Mobility and Justice for All: Moving Beyond our Broken and Unequal Transportation System

In a 30-minute lecture, followed by 30 minutes of discussion, Dr. Alexa Forrester will synthesize recent transportation justice scholarship to argue that we will never make good on the promise of liberty and justice for all without first fixing our transportation system. The good news is a better future is well within reach, and there are avenues for action for anyone who’d like to help get us there. Scheduled to correspond with the National Week Without Driving.

Capturing Resistance, with Bocafloja

Using an anti-colonial epistemology, Bocafloja will share the ways photography and narrative writing can be used as a tool to challenge colonial expectations, norms, and representation. Bocafloja is a Mexican born Interdisciplinary artist of afro-indigenous descent based in the US ; Music, Documentary Filmmaking, Literature and Photography are some of his mediums of creation. Bocafloja is recognized as a leading voice within artistic communities in the Spanish speaking diaspora and one of the first artists in Latin America who utilized Rap and poetry as an effective model of critical pedagogy amongst impoverished communities. Art Journaling for Liberation

The purpose of this event is to bring awareness about sexual assault and domestic violence. This event is focused to on incorporating creative and healing. SAVE provides a supportive environment that will include education and advocacy for the SRJC community around sexual harassment and will incorporate creativity, imagination, and healing for those who have experienced trauma, and/or would like to learn more about the issues surrounding this challenging topic.

"And So I Stayed" Documentary & Q&A

Join us for the showing of "And So I Stayed", an "award-winning documentary by Natalie Pattillo and Daniel A. Nelson about survivors of abuse fighting for their lives and spending years behind bars". A story of how the legal system gets domestic violence wrong. This will be a film screening followed by a student panel where they share their experiences and answer audience questions. Free food provided and open to all. Event is a collaboration between the Second Chance Program, Student Health PEERS, and the Santa Rosa Intercultural Center.

Curious Conversations: Exploring Text-Based Communication

A welcoming dialogue on connection, cognition, and the many ways people communicate. Join us for a brief and engaging overview of text-based and other forms of nonspoken communication, including insights from the Telepathy Tapes project. Featuring a discussion panel of AAC users and other non-speaking communicators, followed by a community Q&A exploring how we share meaning, emotion, and understanding in diverse and dynamic ways. Don't Talk to the police: A Know your rights training

BSU Film Screening: The Negro Baseball League: "An American Legacy"

“The League”, directed by Sam Pollard and co-produced with Academy Award winner “Questlove”, chronicles Byron’s late father Bob Motley (a Negro League umpire) throughout the film. The film, lecture presentation along with a Q&A with Motlely, will be a tremendous learning curb for students as well as highly entertaining. This is a great opportunity for your students to learn about this little-known era of American history which greatly influenced the Civil Rights movement in our country.
